Great food! Had some issue with timing, I was told one time when we put our name down and it kept being moved back every time we spoke to the hostess. Once we were sat things moved quickly and all the food was great! We got the corned beef hash, latkes, pierogies and the stuffed cabbage. The corned beef hash was unique I liked it but didn’t love.
Amazing Ukrainian food! Such a big menu but we ended up ordering the Vegetarian Combo Plate, Chicken Paprikash, and pierogis! I thought the chicken Paprikash was the best thing on the table! Tender and warm chicken pieces in a savory creamy sauce over egg noodles. A perfect dinner portion! Really cool ambiance in the restaurant also. Would visit again!
I have been going to the Veselka in Manhattan for years. My daughter and I were traveling through Williamsburg and came across this restaurant. We immediately pulled over and requested a table to order food. We ordered a matzo ball soup, a latke, cup of tea and some perogies. Everything was absolutely delicious! My favorite perogies are the short rib and mushroom sauerkrat ones. Omg! Heavenly. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. The entire experience was a 10/10. Can't wait to return!
Enjoyed a hearty Ukrainian meal here on a cold winter night. Veselka is a super welcoming place with some of the friendliest staff out there. Food is delicious and decent value - we got the Taste Of Ukraine set meal which gets you a bit of everything you want - a couple of pierogies, a stew and a starter, with a big piece of amazing medovyk honey cake at the end. The one issue is that a fair bit of our food came out cold, including the matzo ball soup and the chicken paprikash. This was a bit of a shame, having come in hoping to be warmed up. The food was otherwise delicious and nicely seasoned, so I’m hoping this was a blip in the kitchen.
Flavorful, filling dishes that taste like home. Came here for New Year’s Day with my friend to introduce her to Ukrainian cuisine and did not disappoint (she’s become a smetana lover overnight!). Strongly recommend the potato varenyky, vegetarian holubtsi (w/ tomato sauce), as well as the potato latkes with the beet and horseradish side. Will definitely be coming back, but happily leaving with our stomachs full. Winter spritz comes in a generously sized glass!
