Vera Idyllic Pizza

Who would’ve thought one of the best meals I’d have in Maine would come from a pizza spot in a converted work trailer? Vera Idyllic Pizza is an absolute gem on the side of the road. We stopped by twice in four days because the pizza was that good. The cheese and BBQ chicken pizzas were both amazing — fresh, flavorful, and with the best dough I’ve ever had. The setup is simple but really well done, and you can tell they put care into everything. Forget the lobster — this is the place you’ll be craving again and again. AJ from Buffalo

The midcoast is a bit of a pizza desert. Look no further to finally get satiated. To quote Leia: “Help me, Vera; you're my only hope.” Crust is top tier, roni cupped perfectly. No complaints!

Quite possibly the best pizza in New England - yep I said it, even with New Yorker parents and a strong Connecticut pride. We drove by this place thinking - pizza in a shack? but I was craving something other than a lobster roll and knew my boyfriend loves pizza so we gave it a try. So so glad we did! We got the supreme and devoured the entire thing in 10 minutes - it’s that good! Fresh ingredients with homemade sauce, the perfect amount of cheese and toppings but the incredible part is the crispy crust and bottom. PERFECT pizza. Only thing I would change is that I would add outdoor seating though it was great that the guy brought it directly to our car. 10/10 don’t miss this hidden gem.

So good there isn't even a photo to prove it happened!!! I KID YOU NOT - MY GIRLFRIEND AND I ATE THE WHOLE PIZZA IN THE CAR. This place is a roadside shack with a sign. We drove by it and didn't give it a second thought. Then, as we came back to Boothbay Harbor, we decided to take a chance... Walking up, I saw the by the slice machine and was worried. But, then looked at the menu and it looked legit. We ordered a full pizza and the cool guy brought it to our car when it was done a few mins later. Crust was perfectly crispy, just the right toppings to cheese to sauce ratio. And the toppings were just right - the sausage tasted exactly like good sausage - not the crappy pizza hut/Domino's version.
