Customer Reviews
This was my 2nd time to Uncle Mike's Place. Introduced by my nephew and his Filipina wife. Had breakfast / brunch both visits. First visit I had the Big Bangus. This time I had the Longacina Tocina Combo. Everything was delicious but the tocina was my favorite. Despite arriving on a Saturday morning with no reservation and a full house, we were seated right away. Love that we are served a cup of Lugaw as soon as we are seated. Really hits the spot on a cold Chicago winter. Service was prompt and efficient. Recommended (and it has nothing to do with the fact that my nephew suggested this place to his Uncle Mike).
We were greeted with a bowl of bean soup and lugaw before we had even ordered, which felt like the best kind of welcome. The hospitality was what I'd expect from fellow Filipinos, just warm enough and very efficient. The food was great, and the price definitely reflects the portion size. (I had to take some in a box because I was absolutely stuffed.) It's a great spot if you're homesick and craving Pinoy comfort food, but also awesome if you've never had it and want to dip your toe in.
Very warm and comforting. Getting a welcome bowl of the Filipino rice porridge was super hearty and nutrient dense. I ordered the steak and eggs and tried the longinasia sausage. It was enjoyable overall, and worth a 20 min wait.
As soon as we sat down, we were welcomed with a complimentary bowl of arroz caldo—such a nice touch and so comforting. We ordered garlic rice with eggs and longanisa, along with a baby milkfish, and everything tasted perfect. The flavors were authentic and cooked just right. The meal even came with champorado, which was the perfect sweet finish. What a great experience from start to finish!
Cozy spot with a great Filipino breakfast. They serve complimentary lugaw right when you sit down (a soup like congee). Friendly staff too.
