Ukai Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar

Atmosphere was very welcoming here and the service was great. We were seated immediately when we came in. We got the Crunch Roll, Me Soy Hungry, and Crabby Patty. Something I noticed immediately is the big portions they have for each roll and the first bite we took, we noticed how soft the sushi rice was. 10/10 will definitely be going back here.

This place was much better than expected. We have been to Benihanas and other restaurants like this but the food and service here was as good if not better than all the others. Huge portions and our chef was very entertaining. We did have a little difficulty finding this restaurant with our GPS.

We have dined at Ukai many times over the years and generally enjoy the food, which has consistently been very good. Unfortunately, our experience last night was disappointing due to how an accident was handled. We were celebrating our daughter’s 18th birthday with a family dinner. During the meal, our server accidentally spilled hot miso soup down my wife’s back. Thankfully, she was wearing a thin sweater and did not suffer any serious burns, though she was understandably uncomfortable for the remainder of the evening. The soup also spilled onto her winter coat, which was hanging on the back of her chair, soaking the pockets and her gloves inside. The server apologized, which we appreciated. I wasted 2 of my birthdays here, as I tried to give them a second chance. I don't have much details of the first one spent here, but here are the details from my second one: When we arrived, there was a bunch of spilt food underneath our table. Which wasn't a good start to the night. Second of all (and maybe most important), what hibachi place DOES NOT have any yum-yum sauce?! Their sauce (which was like a horseradish/ginger one) can't even compare to traditional yum-yum sauce. Their fried rice was dry because they don't put in any butter or margarine like they do at other hibachi places that I've been to. We came here on a cold Monday night and it was fairly steady with tables coming and going. The server wasn’t very personal and she made a few comments that aren’t exactly funny or comforting. We expressed that it was very cold inside the restaurant (thermostat showed 69 degrees F and it even dropped to 66 during dinner) when she stopped by to ask how was everything. Her reply: “well at least you’re all done with your food.” It wasn’t the response we’re expecting bc we did have to eat food that was cold within 5 mins and our whole table had our coat on and so does the table across from us. We weren’t even complaining or asking for a compensation. She asked and we literally gave her our honest opinion, lol.
