Tom's Lotus Garden

Unfortunately, this would be the last time going to a staple of my childhood before it closes for good later this month. The restaurant has an old-school and a slight dingy feel to it. The dim sum was good by Wichita standards but not as good as dim sum that I had in bigger cities like Chicago. Service was however meh despite som dim sum carts rolling around. Many items had to be ordered from the server and they were out of some menu items. I had the pork shu mai, fried taro puffs, pork spare ribs, turnip cake, and beef stomach. Still, it's a shame that they're closing down which means less options for dim sum in Wichita.

The Mandarin Chicken wasn't that great overall. No mandarin oranges or almonds. Peanuts and orange slices without the peel. The chicken wasn't very good either. The steamed white rice was cooked good. The service was good. The older guy was great. The younger guy was bossy. The egg rolls were good. The crab rangoon was great. I will go back to try the lemon chicken. It had a little different description and hopefully it will be sliced chicken breast. Not those clumps of chicken that are fatty and not tender.

I was super excited to find a place with good reviews for dim sum in Wichita. Those reviews may be fake based off not just my, but the 4 other people with me who stated their contempt as well. We ordered shrimp balls, roasted duck, steamed pork buns, eggplant shrimp, fried tofu, egg custard tarts, and more. The food was nearly inedible. We all left food on our plates and the table. To top it off, the service was so bad I eventually had to get up to ask for someone to come over. There were only 4 other occupied tables and the staff was sitting playing on their phones. After I asked for service they continued to sit and play on their phones. The food was very expensive at around $25/person for some of the worst food I've ever eaten.

Crab ragoons were very good. I had to tell my brother to go try them as well. If you like sweet crab ragoon, then these will knock your socks off.

Came here with a couple of friends to try out their dim sum... it really disappointed me. I heard it was a good spot for it from some coworkers, and it just didn't even come close to being good. In my opinion, the place was really dirty and was in need of an overhaul of some sort to clean it up and get things organized. Food was affordable, but not something amazing. They pushed a single cart around for us to see and then afterwards we just had to order via waiter. Didn't get to have any greens and they only had maybe 5-8 different dishes in the cart. Meh
