Tio Pepe Mexican Restaurant

Normally very happy at Tio Pepes. I normally get the carne asada, or the chile rellenos, and they are good. I have been wanting to try the fajitas... Lunch version of Steak fajitas.... Huge amount of peppers, onions, etc... nicely cooked, still a little crisp, tasty. Steak? Maybe 9 or 10 small bites, kind of tough and chewy, no char or browning, just gray meat, and not much flavor. Tortillas.. ok, refried beans were cold and runny, the pico was good, as was the guacamole So this was basically veggie fajitas with smidgeon of meat. Not what I wanted. When I mentioned it, they said that was the standard lunch fajitas... and the full dinner portion has more meat (and more expensive too). But the thing is, based on the lunch fajitas... I would not ever order fajitas here again. I have eat

Tio Pepe's has the absolute best beans and rice that I have had in Eugene. The chicken en mole was delicious and pretty good portion. The mole sauce was more complex and spicy than chocolatey, which I enjoyed. Chips and salsa were plentiful, although the salsa was extremely mild. Our server was friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again soon.

Tio Pepe is a eugene gem. This is the only place I know of where two people can eat full meals for under twenty dollars total. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. You won't find better food for the price anywhere in Eugene 😋

Enchiladas trio was great. Carne asada, a little tough, but good. Decent price. Nice atmosphere. Two of us $42.

What a great Mexican restaurant! Prices were good, service above average (very good), and our table was in a large, semi private room (we had a large group, meeting for a memorial). Food was so well prepared! This is our new go-to for Mexican food.
