Tio Mateos Mexican Grille & Greenwich Bay Gourmet

Stopped in for RI Food Fights’ “Taco Mania!” and had a great experience! The space is clean, bright, and welcoming, with sunlight streaming through the large glass garage doors that open up for a breezy, al fresco feel on warmer days. You order at the counter, where the staff is super friendly and helpful, and they bring your food right to your table — a nice casual touch. I tried one of each taco — Adobo-marinated chicken, steak, and pork — topped with shredded lettuce, cilantro, and I chose the Del Diablo salsa. Each taco was moist, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. The salsa added a great kick without overpowering the flavors. A solid spot for fresh, satisfying tacos and relaxed vibes — I’d definitely come back to try more!

Just go to chipotle if you’re looking to get what you pay for. Chicken quesadilla had one single nugget of chicken. Should’ve known better after they have done this several times now. Lesson learned. If you order the quesadilla, look before you leave!!

A great place off Main Street that is a little more casual and reasonably priced. I've only had the Mexican style food from here, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. It was consistently busy on a Tuesday night which which is always a good indicator.

While the tacos may have looked a little messy, they were quite tasty. I've been here a bunch of times now, and the food is always consistent and well-made. I've never been particularly wow'd but I've also never left disappointed. (update below for sandwich month) It's got the feel of an Americanized taco place, but that is not in any way a bad thing. The bass flavors are classically Mexican, but they feel like they're customized to a more American pallet. The dining room is comfortable, and well set up. I love when they have one of the walls open to the outside during warmer weather. Every time I have been in the staff have been incredible, kind, and attentive. My wife, mother-in-law, and I had a craving for Mexican cuisine, and we’re so glad we chose Tio Mateo’s in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The staff, service, food, pricing, and atmosphere were all top-notch.
