THE dwelling furthest from a paved road in the lower 48 states. Lovely set up. Unfortunately, no one was home when we visited. We ate lunch on the porch & used the outhouse. Both were clean & nice. An amazing place.

Perfectly wild place to establish a rapport with the native wild-life. The most remote seasonally inhabited place from “civilization” (ie, a road) in the Lower 48. Yet only a day’s horseback ride away.

Rangers here were very knowledgeable about the area and willing to talk with us. Cool to be able to check out the most remote part of the US.

I don't know about any video games, but I've been tracking my 24 yr old son and his companions, and they are currently on an epic packrafting journey, following in the footsteps of the Du'Mor' group. "The route links four wilderness rivers by crossing three high mountain passes (including the continental divide) through the most remote country in the contiguous 48 states" and will complete the 97+ mile route through two wilderness areas, passing below this site along Thoroughfare Creek. Day 2 consisted of a 5,000 elevation gain. I'd say, less video games and "Du'Mor'".

Well you found it. The place where Firewatch is set. This game is a reminder of how beautiful the world can be. The scarcely tamed wilds of our world are something that can bring us together. Henry and Delilah were two broken people who came here to hide, to heal, to escape. they were drawn together and grew to depend on each other, but then the veil around them was forced to fade. I hope they found their way back to one another, but we will never know. When you are in a place like this nothing out in the 'real world' matters anymore. Maybe Ned had the right idea... but he is only half right. I learned from Christopher Mccandless that happiness is only real when shared. This game reminds me what i want, and what i think everyone should want. To love, and to be loved. And explore the world
