Customer Reviews
We stopped here while visiting the area. I was really impressed by the food and service! We both got cheeseburgers. We had to wait awhile, as they were busy, for our food, but it was worth the wait. Our waitress was very attentive and it was affordable, as well. Highly recommend!
Friendly home folks. I was hungry, saw 7 pick-up trucks. SO dropped on in. If they were just having coffee & shooting the bull, so would we. But the tables were full of quiet men, munching. Best meal for a while. Trust the boys that drive those pick em up trucks. Great service, great food.
I've eaten here a number of times over the past 5 or 6 years and NEVER been disappointed with the food or service. You don't come here for atmosphere. This is good solid working man and family fare with reasonable prices and generous portions. Today, I had the catfish. I have to say, I have almost never had better in my life of 7 decades - - including catfish I caught on my own docks and cooked at my old home along the banks of the NE Cape Fear River. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her flounder, too. They really know the importance of fresh and very hot oil to fry in. Wow! I got started before I thought about a better photo.
Choose this restaurant along the Blue Ridge Pkwy because of the great reviews but it was, at best, average. There were plenty of canned goods & hamburger helper on the shelves in the hallway on the way to the restrooms to prove that "home-made" is in no way a fit description for this restaurant. I wasn't impressed with the food or the service and the restaurant & decor looked both old & run down rather than quaint & retro. No wonder we were the only customers at 1:30 in the afternoon.
We contracted with Keith Thompson and Thompson’s Southern Cuisine to provide catering for a holiday gathering event for youth in foster care on 12/19/2025 in Burlington and paid in full. The caterer did not appear and did not communicate until after our event meal time which disrupted our event which we had to move from one venue to Golden Corral. We called and the phone went straight to voicemail. We’re pursuing a full refund and reporting to social media and all media channels and consumer protection agencies as applicable. We are disappointed in the lack of professionalism, communication and willingness to resolve this matter.
