The Thorn Restaurant & Bar

I found this place on tik tok when I was looking for brunch places in the west Chester and Yonkers area. The place has parking on site which was great! We went around 2pm on a Saturday and there was only one other table seated, it was pretty empty, which is fine. We ordered the calamari for the table, chicken and waffles and steak and eggs. We also got unlimited mimosas and Bellinis. The drinks were good. The food was very tasty! The service was slow and it took a long time for the food to come out, which was shocking given that there was only one other table of 4 there. I would recommend that they become a bit faster. The waiter was very personable and nice.

I recently visited The Thorn for a birthday brunch, and it exceeded all expectations. The cozy atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing morning, with soft lighting and friendly staff greeting us as we entered. The menu offered a variety of both sweet and savory options, with something for everyone. I opted for the avocado toast topped with a perfectly poached egg, and bacon. The avocado toast was creamy and fresh, and the toast had just the right amount of crunch. The eggs benedict had a rich, velvety hollandaise sauce and bacon bits complemented the tender poached eggs perfectly.

I don’t get the hype. We’ve tried it a couple times, food is OK atmosphere is good, they do have good service, but the food is really just lacking. I really want this to be good because it’s so close by, but I’ve never satisfied. We stopped going.

I was hesitant to write this review because, as you'll see, it's not good. But waking up this morning still bummed about our abysmal Valentine's dinner last night prompted me to move forward. First - the menu was prix fixed. Nowhere on their website was this mentioned, which I felt was a miss, but not a deal breaker. The number of offerings were good so we were hopeful. That's pretty much where our optimism ended. The Thorn really needs to up their service game. The person who we thought was our waiter when we were first seated was lifeless and almost timid. He took quite a while to even ask us if we wanted drinks. We ordered our drinks and 3-course meal at the same time. We were specifically asked to also give our dessert choices which we thought would bode well at the end of our meal.

Finally tried a few of their bar specials and was not disappointed! The lamb sliders are amazingggg and the harissa wings are packed with flavor. The panzanella salad was so light and refreshing. My friend had the pistachio falafel wrap and said it was great too! They’re still finalizing desserts but I had the pleasure of trying their honey & walnut loukoumades as well and they were perfect! Can’t wait to try the full menu!
