We arrived and could tell right away the place was busy — the server even said so when we walked in, which should’ve been my cue to leave, but we decided to stay and give it a chance. We were seated fairly quickly, but then sat for 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. I brushed it off, assuming they were just slammed. We finally ordered, but then watched three other tables who came in after us get their food, eat, and leave before ours ever arrived. After two hours, we finally got our food…just three appetizers and a sandwich. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told she was “on the porch.” I went outside, and surprise, no manager to be found. Between the long wait, lack of communication, and complete absence of management, this was one of the worst dining experiences
We wanted this dinner out to be better than it was. The downstairs bar and restaurant are seamless (I could watch a couple play pool while we ate in the dining room) and clearly have been remodeled and upgraded. It felt nice as we were seated. The dinner menu seems relatively diverse. But "we're out of that" was heard from the table near to us, and repeated when I tried to order the chicken and dumplings soup. So we both ordered the beef stew with cornbread. On the first bite, both of us independently thought, "Dinty Moore." Whether this soup actually came from a can is irrelevant. It was barely lukewarm, the "broth" was pale brown and lacked any flare or tastiness. The potatoes all looked suspiciously uniform. An accompanying thin slice of corn bread was cold, not warmed. |Timing matters
My husband & I had a wonderful experience on a Saturday night at their restaurant. The waitress & waiter are wonderful, ready to take care of us, food was delicious specially the New England clam chowder soup & the chicken quesadillas. We will come back to taste the other delicious dishes.
After hiking Moxie Falls, we stopped by the Solon Hotel & Restaurant for a bite to eat. We didn’t stay in the rooms, so I can’t speak to those, but the women’s restroom was clean and well maintained. The bar area was lively with patrons, while the dining room was quieter for a Sunday afternoon. There was one table that still needed to be cleared, but we were seated quickly. It took a few minutes for our server to return, as he was also taking care of two other newly seated tables. It seemed he might have been the only server working at the time—a friendly young man who may have been a family member. He was warm and welcoming, though still finding his rhythm. When our food arrived, it was absolutely delicious—well worth the wait. It did take a little time (and a couple of reminders) to ge
I came for the “Hotel Hell” event that they have during Halloween. The Hotel Hell was amazing! Totally worth the money and the perfect balance of scary and amazing sets. I got dinner afterwards and it was awesome! Great service and great food. 10/10 recommend
