The Railroad Cafe

Built by the Central of Georgia Railroad around 1900, this historic depot has been spared from recent destruction and is now a cafe serving comfort food at great prices with very friendly service. Much of the original depot design is still there, and so is the switching station built next door. There are artifacts, articles and pictures around the cafe regarding the railroad in Fort Valley. The original railroad warehouse built nearby for peaches, is being spared for a transportation museum, based on Internet sources.

We tried the lunch here today, and it was phenomenal! The Cajun Shrimp & Sausage Wrap was spicy, fresh, and delicious. My wife said that the Southern Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich was the best chicken salad that she’s ever tasted. We’ve had the breakfast here as well, and it’s always top notch. Great customer service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We loved our breakfast at The Railroad Cafe. A gem of Fort Valley! Friendly service, delicious homemade food. "Must try the pancakes". And, the historic location adds so much to the overall experience. This is a must stop if you're in the mood for a delightful cafe with fantastic food, great prices, and working trains in the foreground.

Went to The Railroad Cafe (Fort Valley) this morning to have breakfast because several people in another WR group said that they had the best pancakes in the area. They were right!! As a AA new to the area and whose adjusting to living in a rural area for the first time. I was a bit apprehensive at first to go to a small town establishment so it took me a few weeks to actually go after reading the suggestions. But let me tell you. I am so glad I took the chance. The food was amazing. It was so delicious😋. To me it wasn't like restaurant food. But something that Grandma would make in her kitchen. very popular place in the area. the wait time during lunch hours often exceeds 30min, which is not acceptable. Their “award winning shrimp and grits” was a disappointment for a southern place… Relatively bland and not enough sauce Atmosphere is cool though
