The Osprey

We've been wanting to try this for some time so it was great reason when out of town guests came to visit. The space is beautiful and we felt immediately welcomed. It was easy to hold a conversation even while sat near the bar. There were 5 of us and we took advantage of the happy hour $2 Florida oysters before the clock struck 6. We moved in the stone crab claws which you order by the claw. Two was plenty! The cioppino was chock full of seafood and mild...it could have had a bit more spice but it was perfect on a 29 degree night. The parmesean fries are not to be missed. Wow! The whole table agreed they were worth it! We shared the baked Alaska (plenty for 5). The orange zest was a delightful addition. Definitely make room for this. The Osprey did not disappoint. We will be back.

We dined at The Osprey in Baldwin Park on a Friday night to celebrate my husband’s birthday. I’ve eaten in the area before and had been wanting to try this seafood restaurant for a while. Traffic was hectic (it was Halloween, after all, with lots of families out trick-or-treating), but parking wasn’t too difficult, I ended up at the nearby bank lot down the street, which was easy enough. I had made reservations and called to let them know we’d be a bit late; they were very accommodating and still seated us right away when we arrived. The happiest hour drinks were good. The oysters were great. The chowder was perfect. The drink menu is extensive. Steak Frites was great. Carrot cake and panna cotta were so good. Chelsea, our server helped us decide what to choose and was so attentive. She made dinner amazing.
