The Original Montana Club

A true Montana gem with history, charm, and amazing food! Dining at The Original Montana Club was an unforgettable experience. The historic atmosphere is absolutely beautiful — high ceilings, elegant wood beams, chandeliers, and big windows overlooking downtown Helena and the surrounding mountains. You can really feel the history in every detail. We started with the mushroom puff pastry appetizer — perfectly flaky, rich, and full of flavor. For the main course, I had the roasted chicken with creamy potatoes au gratin and glazed carrots cooked beautifully and full of comfort-food goodness. Everything was seasoned and plated with care. Classic Montana comfort food with big portions and a relaxed pace. I went for a steak sandwich and it was hearty, juicy, and exactly what you want after a long day. Cozy lodge-style interior, friendly staff, and a menu that doesn’t try to reinvent anything — it just works.

My husband and I stopped by for a drink while out for date night. The service was outstanding and the pours were generous- which was good since it was $14/glass! Quiet and comfortable atmosphere, we would definitely go there again on a date night. We appreciated how attentive and service focused the bar staff was. A helpful improvement would be to provide a wine/drink list- we were told that there wasn’t one.

Member host and bartender Avery Akins in particular goes the extra mile to greet and tend to guests and make everyone feel welcome. I am a fairly recent member and have had nothing but top notch service at the Montana Club.

We had a great experience at the original Montana club the other evening. The scallops were delicious and perfectly cooked! Wow. There is no dress code, just in case anyone is wondering. And no requirement to be a member to eat.
