The Original Mels Diner

We mostly do takeout as the place is usually pretty crowded. Very recently when they stopped taking online orders. Things seem to have changed for the worse. The chicken sandwich was super tough and the omelette was bare bones literally like 3 slices of avocado and a glop of cream! Hopefully it gets better but it sure has pushed us away from our favorite local breakfast spot:(

Visited here on Jan 21 at around 9pm. Wasn't busy, plenty of front row parking in front of the building. Visit here at least once a week with family or friends. The service is usually really good, usually little to no wait. This visit was the exception. My party of 3 had to wait 15 minutes to have our order taken. When we got our order the food was great, perfect temperature, no issues there. The main issue happened after we got our food. At no point after receiving our food did any server, waiter or anyone check in on us. It was as if we were forgotten about. We finished our meals and sat waiting for a server for over 10 minutes to order dessert and eventually gave up and had to wait at the register for another few minutes before someone checked to see what we needed. Me and my husband were at Mel's and came in with a request for seating for 20 at the very last minute.Last minute thanksgiving get together. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server name Kim. She went and got us all waters while we waited for the rest of the party. They arrived and she was quick to help us. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. She kept coming back to check on us even though she was extremely busy. I appreciated how managent came to make sure everything was to our liking and was in there helping the staff...excellent teamwork. We finished our plates and management and Kim came to take them off the table ..Thank you to Kim and staff for making us feel so welcomed and taking care of us...we will be back in a couple weeks for our annual x-mas get tog

Fantastic stop, my whole family loved it here. From the food to the service and atmosphere! Can't wait to stop again next time we're down in California.

The food is delicious. The atmosphere was peaceful & fun... I felt like I set stepped into an episode of Happy Days 😎 The server was friendly & helpful.
