The Original Hick'ry Pit

Love love love Hick'ry Pit. Aside from the fact I've been eating here for 35+ years, their food is amazing, service 5 star all adding to to an experience that's hard to match elsewhere. Their ribs and smoked meats are to die for as are their amazing breakfasts, pies and baked goods such as their off the hook Danish sweet rolls large enough to feed 3 people each. Great portions, reasonable pricing for the quality and price size. I don't like their salads or sides but everything else is Heavan. If you enjoy country gravy add I do then you'll be pleased to discover they have the best country gravy in Silicon Valley. Highly recommend!

We went with a large group today and we got great service. The food came out fast, hit, and very tasty. In fact, my youngest said the Denver omelet was the best omelet he had ever had. The coffee wasn't the best, but all in all a good experience.

We were greeted by a young man. He was nice and seemed helpful. He asked if we wanted a table for 5 or a booth. Being that we are all taller and larger, we asked for a table. He escorted us to the back of the restaurant. We walked past 4 filled booths and couldnt help but notice that all the patrons were "white". We got to our table and a waitress yelled across the restaurant " hey, who is gonna be the server there?" That was embarrassing and not professional to say the least. We told the young man, can we sit here... we don't want u to get in trouble? Seems like she dont want to serve us. He said, it's ok... someone will be with u in a minute. 15 minutes later, the waitress finally comes over and says... "alright, what do u want to order." We didnt like that. Food was really good. For breakfast I had the corned beef cubes with cubed potatoes and onions. My scrambled eggs had a bit of griddle residue on them, but the waitress quickly handled it and brought me back a fresh plate. Also the waitress was so nice, she gets 5+ Stars, and I gave her a good tip. The cook and bus boy were very nice as well. The restroom smelled so bad though, like sewage. The floor drain was stopped up and had some standing water around it. A real turnoff for lots of people, especially me. Fix the old smelly bathroom(s) (Super important), spruce the place up a bit, fix the sagging wood structure attached to the building at the rear parking lot rear entrance door, looks dangerous. Most of all you have the best employees....they rock!!!

Great ultimate burger, big enough to share with a friend. Friendly service too. A Campbell piece of history.
