The Orient Bethpage

As a Chinese person, this was my first time being a minority customer in a Chinese restaurant in Long Island, New York. That night, we were only Chinese customers, yet the food was very authentic. The salt and pepper pork chops were delicious. The beef chow fun was a bit crumbly, but the flavor was quite good. Portions are generous. I heard this restaurant has been in business for over 20 years and is still going strong. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.

First time here. Nice experience. Went with a large group of friends and tried many dishes. The food is good, it’s hard to pick a favorite but would recommend the lamb chops and string beans with minced pork.

I could simply just post the best Chinese food on Long Island and that would be enough. But their dim sum is amazing and now that you can get it 7 days a week all of their food comes out so nice and so fresh and so well made. Their meals are not swimming and sticky sauce. It's a nice light sauce coating on most of your meals. Everything is fresh. My wife and I love this place. One night we came in about 5 minutes before they closed because we thought they close at 10:00 but they closed at 9:00 and the owner called all of the cooks back because I had family and from out of town and they took care of our group so graciously. I flew to New York for a quick weekend and spend time with family. My sister asked me what I was creating for, and I said Asian food. I was impressed with this restaurant, the service is impeccable, the food was excellent , and I can't wait to go back again! This is real Cantonese food! It felt cozy and I can tell many people enjoy this place.

One of the few spots on LI that serves real dim sum as well as traditional Cantonese food. We went the other day to celebrate the Lunar New Year and were very fortunate to get a seat just as they opened (restaurant is always busy and often has a wait especially on the weekends for dim sum). They have a busy takeout service. Fast and attentive service from the staff including those with dim sum carts who try to stop at each table and make sure to let you know what's available. Salt and pepper calamari is just absolutely delicious - perfect balance of flavors and was served hot. If you're in the Bethpage area and want good dim sum you should check out The Orient.
