THE OLD MOUNNTAINEER

We've been here several times recently and in the past. When it was Double B's and now that it's the Old Mountaineer. When we first started going here, we were blown away. The food was great and so was the service. However, over the past year, there's been a big difference. Every time we go in, it seems to be more and more relaxed and less and less professionalism and service. Recently, we sat for over 6 minutes. Waiting on menus and silverware and had to ask for condiments several times before they were brought. There were two servers for the whole restaurant on a Friday night? Our fries were soggy and laying in a pool of grease in the fry paper. My mashed potatoes we're so hard I could cut them in cubes. We was there tonight I got the $24 steak and added shrimp 🍤 the steak had no flavor the mashed potatoes was lumpy. The side salad was the best thing.. all total it was over $60. Worst meal ever.. told the waitress and she said she would tell someone. Left the potatoes there and took the steak home to doctor it up. Asked for well done and it was med well.. very un happy

Had been to Tractor Supply and picked up a trailer. Friend said he had ate there before and it was real good so we stopped. Had plenty of place to park was a plus. Went in, sat down, ordered drinks, then food and salads. Got our drinks, then our house salads, then our food. He had Seafood basket, I had Country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. It was all really good. Our waitress was good, checked on us several times. Definitely will be back when in the area.

We decided to try out Double B's Bar and Grill at the recommendation of the front desk clerk at our hotel. The recommendation was a good one. We ordered the Jalapeño Cheddar Balls as an appetizer. These were spicy and delicious. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with a side of onion rings and green beans. My wife ordered the pot roast dinner with carrots and green beans. Portions are more than enough and there was plenty for us to sample each other's meal. The food was really good. Since we were traveling I didn't want to take any leftovers so I pretty much clean mine and my wife's plate before the dessert. 😋 Our waitress, Sydney was very friendly and attentive. Our glasses were never empty and since this wasn't a fast food restaurant, I have to say the meals came out in a reasonable

Food has been severely lacking every time I’ve visited so probably will never return. Pretzel appetizer was warm on the outside and ice cold in the center so obviously microwaved. Similar issue with cheese bites. My pot roast was good but the mashed potatoes got that weird crumbly texture that happens when reheated (I’d bet the microwave is an important part in their kitchen). Also our waitress apparently forgot to put things on our bill so the total when we went to pay was more than what was given to us at the table.
