The Market at Ivy City Smokehouse

I can't say enough about this place. The service was top notch. The food was really good and the vibes of this place is EVERYTHING!! We tried some of every thing. The grilled oysters were AMAZING and the cornbread is probably some of the best I've ever had. This says a lot coming from a "Carolina Girl". The only thing I did not care for were the shrimp tacos. They were dry and hard with no flavor in which the waitress had no problem removing it from my check. Otherwise everything else was really great. We will be back the next time when in DC.

I bought a pound of sashimi grade yellowfin tuna yesterday to make a ginger shoyu poke bowl. Not only was the customer service incredible, the fish was superb! I sliced the bloodline wafer thin and dipped it in soy sauce as an appetizer. Having eaten fresh ahi regularly in Hawaii for a couple years, my palette has become very selective, and this was by far, the best sashimi Ive had since moving to DC two years ago. You guys are the real deal!

I’ve bought fish here a couple times now and it is the best quality fresh fish I have found in DC. I also don’t agree with anyone who thinks the prices are high—I think for the quality you are getting, the prices are very reasonable. I am seafood-obsessed and I aim to come here once a week now for all my fish needs.

Fresh fish and a wide variety of options were offered at the seafood market, though the prices were higher than I’d expected. If you’re looking for quality seafood, it’s a great spot, but be prepared to spend a little more.

Learned about this place recently dining at a friend's house. Found ourselves in the area and stopped in. Gator (manager) welcomed us with open arms. He is full of energy, passionate about the products, and even gave us a taste. Very knowledgeable guy and this place is worth a visit. We look forward to visiting again next time fish is on the menu!
