A friend told us about the malt shop in Natchez MS. We went and ordered burgers to see if it was like the old days. No didn’t happen. Still good. The MALTS yep they are. Very good. Enjoy them a lot. It’s a good little place to visit. Even with the weather was bad and rainy, it was still a few cars there. I don’t think it would park but about 10 vehicles lol. December 8, 2025 it has been there since 1950. We went Monday because it’s closed on Sunday.
It's alright but it's gotten ridiculously overpriced. $18 for a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. It's the basic kind of frozen-patty burger you'd get at any bowling alley or arcade. Mid-Town Grill is a way better deal and better burgers too. Knocking off another star because I found a big hair in my plate which was obviously not mine.
Stopped by for a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. The burger was nice but average. The chocolate shake was fantastic. There is one picnic table and you can walk up to the window or drive thru. Due to the weather today they were not too busy and ordering and getting the food took a short time.
Every time we’re in Natchez, stopping by The Malt Shop is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!! I absolutely love a hot fudge shake from this drive thru staple. My husband loves the Oreo shake— if sure if you tried, you could find something healthy— but that’s not the reason folks want delicious, old fashioned burgers and shakes!
My grandma used to take me here as a kid 30 years ago. I took my son today and he loved it. He ate a soft-serve swirl while we waited on our food to be cooked. My burger was great, but next time I'll have them hold the sweet pickles. My son loved his fried fish and shrimp meal. Good ranch dressing too (I put a lot of stock in a restaurant's ranch dressing). And the service was good too. Very friendly lady at the drive-through window.
