The Inn at Houmas House

My husband and I stopped for a tour and a nights stay. Wow this place is beautiful. the home was breathtaking. The home was decorated for Christmas. Reminded me of places only described in story books. The gardens were immaculate.We had lunch in the Dixie Cafe. The food was very tasty. It was buffet style so plenty to eat. Everyone here is super nice and helpful including the owner. We stayed in cabin E4. The room was clean and way more than I expected. We would love to come again in the spring.

The reception was hard to find, and unfortunately the staff wasn’t very friendly or welcoming. The rooms themselves are great — beautifully furnished, very clean, and well maintained. However, many rooms are located right next to a busy road, and the walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor snoring. The Wi-Fi is very poor, streaming is impossible. Breakfast consists mostly of hot, greasy food — even the rolls are soaked in oil. The whole estate is a lovely park with impressive historic buildings, almost like an oasis. Sadly, it’s surrounded by industrial plants, a freight port, train tracks, and a main road. It’s not really a place where you can relax or enjoy the atmosphere, despite the beauty of the grounds. At the departure the luggage service didn’t showed up as arranged.

This is an amazing place! The rooms are beautiful and very luxurious. The grounds are stunning and beautifully illuminated at night. Great choice of restaurants on site. We had lunch in the Cafe (delicious) and dinner in the Carriage House which was excellent. Only disappointment was breakfast - all the hot dishes were cold and greasy at 8:30am.

We stayed at Houmas House Inn for a wedding. It was wonderful. Very picturesque and comfy. The Grounds were a delight to walk around. There was an included buffet breakfast. The biscuits were delish. The rest of the buffet was good, too.

A wonderful plantation house to visit (privately owned and filled with stories) and a great inn to stay in as well. A tip - make sure to make dinner reservations when you book as there are two restaurants on site and they get booked up. One is fine dining in the old French part of the house and the other is in a beautiful room called the Carriage House.
