We ordered takeout to our hotel from The Halal Guys on Wabash Avenue for a relaxed final night in Chicago, and this one had been a long time coming. We actually tried to visit them in New York back in December, but the queues were enormous (a good sign!) so we missed out. That made finally trying it here feel even better. We both went for the regular platter with spicy BBQ chicken and beef. Delivery was bang on time, and the food arrived properly hot, which is always a good thing of course. Taste-wise? Fantastic. The meat was the star. The beef in particular stood out with its charred, almost smoky flavour, exactly the kind of depth we love. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, and the rice was perfectly cooked, fluffy and flavourful without being overpowering. The fresh salad com
The Halal Guys is a solid choice for flavorful halal food in Chicago. The chicken and gyro are well-seasoned, portions are satisfying, and the signature white sauce really stands out. The food quality is good and consistent, though prices are a bit on the higher side compared to similar halal spots. Service is quick, and it’s a convenient place for a filling meal, especially when you’re craving something familiar and reliable. Overall, a good experience and worth trying.
I tried their chicken platter, and it was good especially the rice. But the limited-time chicken wings were the real highlight; perfectly cooked and paired with their extremely spicy hot sauce, they’re definitely worth a try.
This was my first time having a gyro, my son’s as well. It was absolutely PHENOMENAL! The guy who made our food was so kind. I asked him to make mine the way he likes his because I had no idea what to order! Awesome vibe dining in! I’ll probably never be back in Chicago but I’m so glad I stopped here on our first night of vacation!
Perfect spot to relax after a long day of walking! The small plate was just enough , tasty and satisfying without feeling too heavy.
