The Gilded Pear

Charming cafe in a rustic chic setting. Very comfy! Coffee was good, although the French press required a long wait. The food was excellent, especially the bubble waffles. The savory crepe was tasty. Proportions are generous. Servers were a bit slow but may have been in training. They were all very nice. Will definitely be back.

So so good!!! The coffee and chai lattes were amazing and I absolutely loved my crepe. I’ll definitely be coming back for the drinks, food, and cozy atmosphere!

The Gilded Pear is located in Downtown Smithfield. It is located in the Hood-Spiers Building, which has been restored. It was built in 1900 and still has the original tin ceiling, decorative windows and exposed brick. Seating is on two floors, providing a cozy feel if sitting in the loft. They have the "Pear Necessities of Life." This is both a cafe for coffee and tea, but also a bakery that serves breakfast and lunch. They are known for their bubble waffles and crepes. But also have a large menu that has sandwiches, salads, flat breads and breakfast items. There should be something that appeals to even the pickiest eater. So , this is such an awesome spot. Pastry, coffee, meal and just hanging out.. they are that couple that does everything right and their kids become doctors level of overachievers lol .. for real you should go and check them out and when they have pumpkin pie ? Get it

If this place was near a university it would be packed. Great coffee, great service, wonderful atmosphere and study space. Rustic vibe. The iced latte was well balanced. You can taste the tangy notes from the bean, but it is not overwhelming.
