Started with the Hot and Sour soup. To me, it seemed more like Sweet and Sour. Also had the House Chow Mein. Pretty good. Even better after I added the chili oil and hot mustard!
We bought hot and sour soup, chicken chow main and orange chicken from here and the soup was honestly some of the worst soup I have ever eaten. It was not edible at all, unfortunately we had to throw it away. The chow mein was very meh, and the orange chicken was not breaded correctly at all. It was sawgy and just plain gross. We tried this place once when we first moved here 4 years ago and I thought we should give it a try again thunking they must have just had a bad day. I will NEVER come here ever again. Those of you wondering....you've been warned.
This place was good, a rather standard American Asian restaurant. We ate in which I don't think anyone else has done in months. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the portions were large and served hot. The food was ok, when you're in the mood for Chinese this is a decent option.
All I can tell you--as an Eastern WA resident--is that the Chinese fare in the Pullman WA/Moscow ID corridor is very, very good. Every place has a secret menu; i.e., what an Asian family would order--and this menu had some good choices. I ordered what I thought was going to be traditional Ja Jang Myeon, but our server said theirs was more Chinese, than Korean. Well I've had both, and this place gave me a bowl of noodles/sauce that easily weighed about 6lbs, haha. I'm not kidding. The expected Black Bean Sauce was a Peanut-based thick porridge, more than likely utilizing available sauces in the walk-in cooler that had to be used or thrown out, and you will never hear this guy complain. It was delicious in a, 'I've had 4-5 beers' kinda way. Wifey's obligatory Cashew Chicken was in my opinion
The Emerald has a great potential for improvisation. I would not recommend this place, rather opt for other Chinese restaurants. The chicken was okay, Singapore noodles were decent not great.
