The Dove Diner Restaurant

Went at noon on a Thursday and it was empty and clean. Friendly staff, food came out quickly. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which had four onion rings, two mozzarella sticks, two potato skins, and a couple of chicken tenders. For our meals, we got a chicken salad/egg salad/potato salad platter I think? And it was three hearty scoops on a lettuce salad with olives, tomatoes, onion, etc. The potato salad needed mayo. Then, shrimp scampi with tomatoes and asparagus and a small (and good) salad. Portion sizes were good overall. I got eggs benedict with avocado and tomato plus well done home fries. This was my first visit to this restaurant, and while the customer service did not disappoint, the waitress was very friendly. The food, however, was extremely disappointing. When I order a crab cake, I expect it to actually contain crab. Instead, I was served two jumbo crab cakes that were almost entirely bread with little to no crab at all. Honestly, they might as well have given me four slices of bread, because that is all it tasted like. If the restaurant could not make proper crab cakes, they should have either made them smaller, charged more, or been upfront about what was being served. Charging $30 for bread filled crab cakes is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the broccoli had an unpleasant smell and was not enjoyable. The Dove Diner is one of our go-to breakfast spots. It has that classic diner atmosphere—comfortable, welcoming, and just easy to enjoy as a family. The menu has a lot of options, and the impressive part is they do all of it well. You can tell it’s family-owned in the best way: the service feels personal, friendly, and consistent. Our kids love it here—especially Uncle Jimmy, who always makes them feel special. Highly recommend.

Myself and a friend went their for dinner on 12/15. Normally the food is bearable, but this time it was un-edible. First issue: My friend ordered the pepper steak, but was given the beef stew. We were told that the cook can't read English well, and that's what he made instead. There was no effort to remake what he actually ordered, and he was forced to eat the beef stew, which was flavorless. The only effort that was made to rectify the issue, was a offer of a free dessert. I haven't been here since my early 20's because I didn't like the food. Now it looks different inside. I didn't see any cakes and pies they use to have. But the breakfast was good. Everything was prepared perfectly. Everyone knows that if you mess up my food. I don't have anything nice to say!! But each of the two time my husband and I have come it was yummy. They even have mimosas, a nice size glass too!! Our waitress Kaitlyn did forget our silverware, my side of meat , and our mimosas. But maybe she's new. The owner is a nice man. He came over to see if we are ok . I recommend this restaurant for breakfast at least because we didn't have dinner yet. It's huge inside and very laid back.
