The Difference Baker - George Mason University

The chicken was advertised as being fried to order but after ordering I observed the worker microwaving the fried chicken, while still being somewhat unevenly heated. The donut on top of not being warmed either tasted gritty and was overall relatively small while being 3.99. None of the food was to expectation and I wanted better especially for the full price being 16-17 dollars for both.

This place is to die for especially if you have an allergy to any of the top 9 allergens I’m unable to eat dairy eggs wheat and oats and they are able to serve me sandwiches pizzas pop tarts doughnuts pretzel bites and more!! Having been with these allergies for 22 years this food is some of the most tasty food I’ve had without ingredients I’m allergic to in it and their tbd sauce and doughnuts are just done to perfection! 10/10 would recommend this place especially the sweet treats to anyone even non allergy having folk! Their cream doughnuts are to die for! Also if you catch them on a fried chicken day their fried chicken is the best I’ve had my whole life! (I can’t have Popeyes yet but I’m betting the difference bakers take is better!)

Worst food on campus by a mile. If you hate money and your taste buds then this is the place for you. The food was barely warm, dry, no taste of flavor, expensive, slow. I couldn’t even finish it and threw it out. Worst pizza of my life by far.

I finally made it over to Mason just to try these allergen-friendly goodies as Fairfax City doesn't have another bakery like this.The pop tart was amazing and not too cloyingly sugary like some GF, vegan desserts are. Ambience was lacking in really every way in the shop, but at least the outdoor campus area nearby was nice since it is spring. Please note that this is on floor one of the building and there are no signs to direct you within the building (the room number was around 1800). As for parking, once I found my way out of the Shenandoah parking garage (again, poor signage, but that's a Mason problem, not a Difference problem), it was a very short walk. I was able to get in, eat, and get out all within the free 30 minutes of parking. I will be back for more tasty goodies.

So happy to have a dedicated gluten free spot in Fairfax! My husband, who doesn’t need to eat gluten free (and doesn’t really like a lot of gluten free things) got a breakfast sandwich and he really enjoyed it. We split a pizza, which was small, but very delicious. It’s hard to find a gluten free pizza that’s safe for someone with celiac, and usually it’s just on a prepared cracker like crust. But this was thick, bready crust with a nice developed yeast flavor, which is uncommon in the gluten free world. I really enjoyed it. The lemon cake was fantastic, I also brought a bagel home and toasted it later and it was great, it was soft and flavorful.
