The Cheese Steak Shop

Closest thing I know in the Bay Area that’s resembles the originals… and I should know since I lived in south Philadelphia. It does a good job copying it but the portions are smaller (ex. A regular cheesesteak’s in Media, PA would be a Philly cheesesteak with DOuBLE steak at this shop). This shop btw is usually quite consistent compared to others in terms of quality. Word of advice: Avoid the combo since their soda machine isn’t great. The Pepsi and whatever Sierra Mist was replaced with tasted off every time.

Terrible customer service + demanding ID for a sandwich??? So a few weeks ago I ordered a cheesesteak ( via the Cheesesteak Shop App ) from this Castro Valley Shopping Center location which I have done maybe 100+ times before and when i was at the register to pick up the woman demanded to see my ID to pick up my order? WHAT THE HELL ! Is that not a bit far? Seems like an invasion of privacy to me. And also the attitude with it was insane. How is having the name, order details, and phone # not enough to verify pick up? Do you need a DNA sample also? I feel and felt violated and disrespected and it has not sat right with me since! I ordered a large Philly cheese fries chicken and when I got the order it was in a small container. I ask the lady employee if this was a large order and she said yes they just put it in the small container because they ran at a large container boxes. I also asked her about the amount of food that was in the small container and she said it was the same amount they would put in a large container. Now how I think is if it's a large order it should not fit in a small container box, this means that we're all getting cheated when buying Philly cheese fries because it's the same amount that fits in a small container or they just gave me less food one or the other. But I feel very cheated for the price that I paid for it and was very upset. I don't think I want to go again

Portion sizes has decreased but not the prices. My order was three/forths less than I previously received. No longer worth the money. Not happy at all! I feel cheated. Ordered a few things at full price and got a extra small Portions with each. They just lost good customers from my household. Don't waste your time or money with this place. Highly upset with what I received!

Seriously so good. I came in around 1:30, today, 10/2, with my dad, and while I did try to apologize for his rudeness towards the cashier, I did want to leave a review commending her & her team. She delivered excellent customer service and explained the sandwich sizes, which I had planned to ask about. I ordered the Gilroy, which, with the whole garlic cloves was a hit! Thank you
