The Chateau On The Lake

Fantastic dinner on Oct 13th . Beautiful dinner on a cozy fall evening as we sat in the dining room near the fireplace . The setting and rooms were gorgeous and what a special spot . Our dinners of chateaubriand and chicken were outstanding and the accompaniments perfect with the meats . We started with French onion soup and the arugula and beet salad so good and perfect start . The wine list was amazing and a beautiful bar . We ended with carrot cake and were very happy with our choice . Our server was lovely and we enjoyed a magical dinner out. Kudos to chef and staff for a great dining experience !

The Chateau has nice water views and is so beautifully decorated in an upscale shabby chic sort of style. It is warm and inviting. The food was outstanding from the delicious fresh baked bread to the short rib and truffle mashed potatoes. Service was very good.

From the start, Nicole and the team were an absolute dream to work with. Planning was seamless, and their attention to detail really made us feel like we were in good hands. I had booked this restaurant (we did not stay at the inn) for my anniversary based on reviews but I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. This place would NEVER make it in NYC. I ordered half a dozen PEI oysters which are normally good but these were dry and flavorless. The best thing we ordered were the lamb lollipops. I ordered the Chateaubriand. It was cooked nicely but lacked flavor. My husband ordered the red snapper and it had clearly been frozen. Yuck. Do not order the red velvet cake. There is a citrus element to it which is not standard for that cake. Also, it tasted as it had been defrosted. They were clearly overrun and understaffed. Loved the view of the lake and charm of the indoor seating area. Ordered breakfast from the Brunch menu. It was good but nothing exceptional, especially for the price. The service, however, was amateurish. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating but came across as quite inexperienced. He couldn’t even carry the drinks without spilling. I ordered my eggs well done and only figured out after we started eating that he gave my plate to another dinner. I couldn’t eat the wet eggs at all yet when he came to clear the plates, he could see the eggs were the only item left and rather than ask if they were ok, he offered me a box. I could have said something and probably should have but I was with friends and just didn’t want to.
