We played on Wednesday, Feb 25th. Tee time was 11. We warmed up on the driving range that was basically bare ground. On the course, tee boxes were well maintained; the fairways were brown, dried out terrain; the greens varied from lightning fast to mysteriously slow. Pace of play was satisfactory . Greens fees were $70. Vastly overpriced and overrated. Gouging the snowbirds and not watering the fairways and then having the audacity to charge that much is an insult to locals.
Played there today. Greens are excellent, fast, and true. Fairways grass needs some rain but otherwise are fine. I am told there has been a lack of rain for weeks. Well worth the $59 I paid to play. Definitely going back.
Betty and I love everything about St James from checkin (inside & out) to the course layout and conditions. The greens are outstanding. We appreciate the owner and his sons for treating us like royalty😀. We consider St James our home course and have a great time when we play. Thanks for making us feel at home!
This course is extremely poor. It is run into the ground by some of the worst staff I've ever come across. The cart boy called my friend, who was visiting from Canada, trailer trash because he didn't give a tip when receiving the cart at the start of his round. Then he stopped our foursome after hole 17 at 5:30, still plenty of day light would not let us complete the last hole. When I questioned him he threatened to fight me, yes physically fight me. The course itself is in horrible shape, one hole had a flag in the fairway instead of the green. The carts are slow and aged. Bartender was nice even though I don't drink lol. I would try to go anywhere else if you can.
Nice course. Well kept greens and fairways. Rained the day prior but that’s out of the courses’ control. It was a hot day and they have water at every few holes so you can hydrate, between beers too. Very affordable to what I was paying up north. Friendly staff. Young kid when cleaned off all clubs when we finished up.
