I usually dine here about once every two months and this last visit was an eye opener. The seating is extremely tight and to reach an open table I had to squeeze past two chairs placed back-to-back. One was empty and the other belonged to an older gentleman with white hair who had his chair extended while chatting with friends. I politely said, "Excuse me," but he only gave me an annoyed look and didn't say anything and scooted in his chair but not the actual chair, making it very awkward. I had no choice but to squeeze through. After the older gentleman and his associates were done talking, the associates left the restaurant and the older gentleman went behind the counter and that's when we realized it was the owner. Shame on you to treat your customers this way. I won't be going back
I have loved this place for years. They make wonderful sandwiches and salads. They have great soups. Every sandwich comes with a trip to their "salad bar" of sides which has one of the best potato salads in the world. The popovers are amazing. A side option, or you can buy them separately. My favorites apart from what was just mentioned: Thai crunch salad, Mama Dora, Kenny's California Reuben (on pumpernickel), Borcht and matzo ball soups. Another great sign, a lot of their employees have been here for a very long time. They must be treating them well.
Picked up the Messy Bessy with potato salad for lunch. True to its name I went through the 3 napkins I grabbed. The sandwich, potato salad and pickle were delicious! Great spot for lunch in Minneapolis, reasonable prices, friendly staff.
My favorite lunch in the skyway. I try to get a different sandwich every time and every single time it’s been excellent.
I visited while on vacation 2 weeks ago, and I had the best turkey sandwich ever! And I was able to take half of it back to my hotel room for dinner. I highly recommend.
