The BBQ Joint

I ordered and shared the brisket sandwich, pulled pork, cornbread, brisket chili mac, potato salad, and banana pudding. Everything was ok. The meats had too much sauce and the sides didnt have enough seasoning. The Cornbread needed more sugar and honey. The staff was friendly and my food was perfectly warm. They had really great prices here👍

Moved back to the island and this place wasn’t so good 8 years ago. Surprised to see it was still open with high ratings and decided to give it another shot. Brisket had no flavor, pork was dry no flavor (possibly cooked yesterday), sausage tasted like generic Safeway brand. Baked beans tastes like it came from a can and is just heated. Maybe it depends on what time of the week you go in. But we wont be going back.

Gluten free precautions were STELLAR! Separate cutting board, gave me a cup that was packaged up still, really took the care to make me stay safe! Thank you so much!! The food was so delicious I got a brisket plate with potato salad and baked beans. Often in these places I expect the stuff you can get in a grocery store as the sides, but these tasted like they were made in house. Really great baked beans. The brisket was amazing and you get a hearty portion! My partner got pulled pork, ribs, coleslaw, and potato salad. He also opted for the cornbread. He said the ribs were amazing and the vinegar sauce they gave was amazing. The cornbread was soft and fresh. He was offered butter and honey with it too! Get the sweet tea! Strong tea! MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE IN OAK HARBOR! Stopped in for a quick lunch on Friday afternoon. The ladies behind the counter were quick to greet me and take my order. I went for the pulled pork sandwich with mac-n-cheese and baked beans. I was served and cashed out immediately and then I sat myself at one of the open tables. Lunch was awesome. The pulled pork was beautifully smoked and had great flavor and depth. The beans were flavorful and delicious and you can never go wrong with the mac-n-cheese. I will definitely be back.

I grew up in the town that hosts the international BBQ fest every year so I'm admittedly spoiled with some of the world's best BBQ as my baseline. I had high hopes for this place from the photos and decided to give it a chance but it was just ok. I'll cut them some slack since we came towards the end of the day which is not the best time to get BBQ. Brisket and pulled pork were dry and bland without the BBQ sauce on the side. Both were very chewy. Ribs were tender but unseasoned. How you gonna be Memphis style BBQ and not even put on a dry rub? Come on. Banana pudding was great though so we ended on a good note. The prices were reasonable but not for the quality we received. This place is a pass for me 🤷‍♀️
