The Battery Park Public Restroom

Overall good to have a public restroom to use for free in New York City. The toilet flushed, doors had locks, and the taps and soap worked. However the water level in the toilet was too high, the locks were slightly stuck and hard to use, the flush was operated by a button and not a sensor and finally the hand dryer was filthy. The only thing giving it its 3 stars is its location, otherwise it likely would have fallen to a 2.

It was open 6:15 on a Wednesday, super thankful for that, when everything said they were closed. Had toilet paper, only one sink worked with hot water. Long line after I got out. All in all not bad for a public toilet.

On a positive note, I found a place to use the restroom. However, despite the fact that there was soap, the water faucets were completely broken and not useable. I'm glad I had hand sanitizer on me! My main reason for writing this review is because the amount of disease that could be spread from fecal matter and people not being able to wash their hands after using the restroom or changing diapers is scary.

When we went there, the cleaning lady asked us to pay $5 per person. Apparently it's not free depending on the time of day. That's too much to pay for using a public restroom. Be careful!!!

It was clean enough. I've heard NY bathrooms are gross, this looked like a typical public restroom
