Adyar Cafe might be one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of stepping into. Fully vegetarian South Indian cuisine. Expect a lot of tang from fermentation and aggressive levels of spice. The spice blends here had a similar backbone—especially coriander and curry leaves made their way into almost everything—but they were used in different ratios in different dishes to balance out the flavor. Open with the rasam. Usually appetizers diminish your appetite, the opposite of what it’s supposed to do. Here, the rasam rouses your appetite with the tartness of tamarind and tomato combined with the aroma of garlic. It’s light enough that you look forward to the main meal. The place had great vibe and interior. The server and host were also very friendly. The food was nice but bit bland for our Indian standards. I believe it is good for her may be. Or our dishes might not be the perfect pick for spices. It does felt like light and healthy eating. The place is but pricey but ambience justify it.

This place is such a gem! The food is 100% vegetarian and absolutely delicious. We ordered idli with sambar and chutney, the podi mini idli, and that day’s special — the spring dosa. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful! The ambience is beautiful, very calm and inviting, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. The place is also very clean and well-maintained, with a good amount of parking space available, which is a huge plus. We noticed a few people ordering thali, and it looked amazing — that’s definitely next on our list! There are so many dishes to try, and honestly, I can’t wait to go back again to taste everything on their menu. Highly recommend this spot if you love South Indian food. 🌿✨

Delicious food. Service was nice. Decor decent and classy. Seating and placements average. I got sambar dipped vada and millet dosa. Dosa was normal, didn’t find any different from a typical dosa, so it was nice being a healthier option.

The place was underwhelming and clearly not an experience you would enjoy. the Servers wont greet you, wont ask how the food was or if you need anything. The service is really slow with food underwhelming to say the least. Filter coffee delivered after 30 mins was not hot. Dosa chutney had no salt and the quantity of sambhar you get in the compartment steel plate is a joke. Masala puri had green peas and lacked overall flavor and had pieces of panni poori sprinkled on top. Idlis were soft and the sambar was ok in taste (whatever the quantity was). Medu vada was decent. Servers need to be trained to be attentive to the customers needs. Overall the food is bland and medicore. Dosa wasn't crisp at all. I have much better south Indian food and i will suggest Malgudi or even Kaanchi as better v
