Absolutely loved this place! Chic and warm vibe, with a premium feel from the moment I walked in. The food was next level - every dish was fresh and flavorful. The bartender knew what he was doing. The cocktails were perfectly crafted and beautifully presented. The bar had an impressive selection of mocktails - I tried the pomegranate bergamot one, and it was hands down. The overall service was quick and seamless. A definite must-visit!
My experience at Tari Trattoria was absolutely exquisite! It started at the bar with Ulf, who made me a delicious Boss Lady cocktail the perfect way to begin the evening. From there, every dish was a delight: the Amalfi Antica and Ceviche ,Mare were fresh and flavorful, the Bolognese was rich and comforting, the Ippogloso (Halibut) was perfectly cooked, and the Fisherman’s Stew was simply outstanding. And dessert… the Lemon Sponge Cake is to die for! Everything, from the service to the food and ambiance was perfection. We will definitely be coming back!
Chef Francesco let the ingredients speak! And they tell a delicious story. Expect the menu to change often as what fish is available fresh drives the options. Classic Neapolitan dishes and flavors, such as scapece, are combined with new flavors like the Suri. Pasta: Nerano and Bolognese are great. Sides: zucchini and caponata. Fish dishes : they all have been tasty and interesting. Desert : try the caprese al cioccolato. Good variations on espresso martini and Negroni. Attentive and friendly staff make sure you are taken care of.
It was exciting to try a different take on your typical Italian food. Unlike any other DC flavors, this Amalfi Coast inspired menu leaves you wanting more and curious enough to come back and try the full menu. Fresh and full of flavors that are difficult to find in this city…superb, a must try. Atmosphere is inviting, yet elevated; service is how every restaurant should be, well coordinated and with just the right amount of attentiveness and menu knowledge. Unique, cannot wait to try more.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The pasta was overcooked and too chewy, falling short of even a proper al dente texture. The tomato sauce tasted like something store-bought, lacking freshness and depth. The smoky fish dish was also underwhelming, with a flavor that just did not sit right. One of the biggest letdowns was the lack of vegetarian options. The zucchini dish, which seemed to be one of the few vegetarian offering available, was poorly prepared and lacked any real flavor. It was difficult to enjoy. I understand that we visited during opening week, and it can be tough to get everything right from the start. I had high hopes going in, but overall, the experience did not meet expectations. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars.
