Taqueria La Grande (New Britain)

was driving home thru CT after a few days of skiing in VT/NH, was craving tacos. Google suggested this place, but grossly underestimated the detour time due to bad rush hour traffic. "this taco joint better be worth it..." YES IT WAS WORTH IT! I ordered 3 tacos (Lengua, Carnitas, Pastor). Homemade corn tortillas piled high with flavorful meat. Tasty red and green salsa. It was delish. I wonder if they deliver to VA, lol.

This will be the third time and most likely the last time I try to get any type of food from this restaurant, while the recipe and appearance match that of authentic Mexican food, the taste does not . Meat is chewy, a little of the tough side, Barbacoa is unseasoned , and steak meat just bland, chewy and tough. I had ordered the chips and guacamole last time I only got a small container of guacamole and a same for my chips I could of just wasted the time I did there at stop and shop or big y for the same items for the same price, I do belive its overpriced for what "authenticity" should be Street tacos are not want i expected instead I got "lazy food" people are friendly and if you don't have taste buds then I belive this is the spot for you. $16.37 for three mediocre tacos and a soda can.

I went here to pick up some tacos and other Mexican food to go. It is a small little takeout place, but the people running it or very nice and were quite thorough in regards to order accuracy double checking each step of the way. The food was very good, and we will definitely be going here in the future. They only offer takeout, but it was outstanding! Everything we ordered looked, smelled, and tasted fresh…

It’s a hole in the wall kind of place but they always have fresh ingredients and fast service. Always nice and helpful and the most authentic mexican food place in town. They don’t have any chairs or tables, it’s made more for takeout than dine in but there is a small countertop. I have to return for the Elotes!

Honestly, I’ve eaten here a few times and It’s not impressive. Their carne asada meat is not flavorful. The birria taco also did not have the typical strong flavor. I think the vegetables are quite fresh however, they are missing a key component — flavor.
