Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant

We visited this restaurant with our family while on a trip to the Grand Canyon. We ordered butter chicken, chicken curry, and goat curry along with tandoori roti and garlic naan. The food was good overall—flavorful and satisfying. Since this is the only Indian restaurant in town, it’s a convenient and welcome option after a long day of sightseeing. However, the bathrooms were not very clean, which was a bit disappointing. With better attention to cleanliness, this place could offer a much better overall experience.

It was a surprise to find a Punjabi-Indian restaurant at the highway junction leading to Grand Canyon. Apparently, this was a former chinese restaurant and now serves as a good stop for truck drivers for a recharge. After couple of days on the road, we were craving for desi food and chai. The restaurant, while in need of a desparate renovation inside and out, has the essential Northern and Southern Indian food items.

We checked in around 7.30 PM and ordered dal tadka and black channa with roti. Food was fresh and awesome. I definitely recommend this place. We asked for some warm water and it was refused, service could improve a bit.

I ordered 10 tawa rotis from this place, and all of them were completely disappointing , cold, discolored, patchy brown and white, and so dry they didn’t even look fresh. I went back inside to return them and pointed it out, but they just said, “That’s how we make our tawa rotis,” and refused to do anything about it. I’ve ordered from them many times before, but this time the quality was terrible, and what’s worse is that they wouldn’t even acknowledge the problem. They ignored my concern and didn’t offer a replacement or refund. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place and if you still choose to go, check your food before leaving because they don’t accept their mistake once you take it.

The place inside/ out looks horrible. Ordered curry - tasted very sweet . Chicken tikka is very dry as well . We are little bit concerned about how clean the food will be . But after eating those , nothing happens to us ….
