Tacos La Jarocha

We stopped to get gas at the Naugatuck Mobil and decided to grab lunch from Tacos La Jarocha. We tried their birria noodle soup, tamales, esquites, and chicken, chorizo, steak, and pernil tacos. The first thing we noticed was how watery the street corn was… we actually ended up draining the water out when we got home. We also realized once we got home that we weren’t given any sauces, which I would’ve especially liked on my tamales, because they were boring without it. The tamales were a good size, but were mostly dough. The pork inside was good but spicy. The tacos were fine, but we’ve had much more flavorful ones. I am going back and forth whether its 5 or 4 star rating but its better than 4 but not quite 5 yet at least. I will have to try some more to possibly update to 5 stars but as of now I'm sticking with 4. The reason for 4 stars is that the food was lacking a bit more intensity in the flavor. The flavors are there and the food is good but the flavors that I'm used to are not completely shining through. It's hard to explain but maybe after the next visit it will change. Typical food truck vibes and super friendly service which is a huge plus. Food comes out fairly quick but not quick enough for you to think its just laying there on the side and waiting to be loaded. They definitely put pride in their work and I will definitely be back (hopefully to change the review to 5 stars) ... Definitely

If I could give zero stars I would. I wanted to try the steak nachos for the first time and when I got my order, I received the nachos with no guacamole, no tomatoes and no beans… what type of nachos is this? This ain’t real Mexican food! It was so dry and nasty. 0/10

Nice little spot for a quick bite for lunch if you’re near Thomaston Ave. Moses was very accommodating and the food was very good for the price. I had the empanadas and a steak taco which were good with the sauces and some churros for a desert.

The food was so good! My boyfriend and I were hungry on the way home from an event and the food truck caught our eye. We turned around and went back to grab some tacos and soda. So glad we did because it was delicious! If we are ever back in the area we will be stopping again! Very reasonably priced too!
