Incredible on all levels. Best Al Pastor I’ve have stateside and it might even be better than the great places I’ve tried in Mexico City. Everything on the menu was great and their homemade salsas were incredible. Homemade tortillas too! Lovely place with lovely people. Run there don’t walk!

I recently visited Tacos Don Jose 1 and I’m still thinking about it! This incredible mom-and-pop establishment truly honors the legacy of the late Don Jose, who was such a staple in the community. You can feel the pride, tradition, and heart behind everything they serve. From the first bite, you can tell everything is made fresh and with real care. The flavors are authentic, bold, and truly distinct from other taco spots in the area. The tacos de al pastor were absolutely amazin, perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with that signature smoky sweet flavor. Great food and service! I loved their tacos and guess what? They have their own bread too! Which is handmade and amazingly delicious! I am coming back very soon!

These may be some of the best new tacos in NY and certainly in Queens. Owner Victor put a lot of thought into Tacos Don Jose, named in honor of his late father. Think Taqueria Ramirez or Taqueria Al Pastor, but in Queens. Small menu executed really well. Carne asada is tender marinated sirloin. Juicy well marinated al pastor shaved thinly directly off the trompo. And best of all, the corn tortillas are made fresh in house. Clean, comfortable, fast and you can toppings to your liking.
