They do very little to help students. It would be better for everyone if this was abolished. This is a waste of tuition money. Id rather talk to real police officers than these jerks. They act superior to the students who are trying to get a real job as engineers or doctors. They have no right to boss around people who are smarter than them. Department of Public safety only makes problems worse, we have the Syracuse Police Department for these situations. Cry babies will abuse the department of public safety to silence people they don’t agree with online.
Worst department ever, they harass students and don’t stop robberies or fights. They are useless people who couldn’t get any other job. DPS are far more likely to make you unsafe and not any student. If you try to complain about an officer nothing is ever done, the community review board doesn’t care about the students. DPS is why Syracuse is considered one of the least safe universities in the country
I've never been so thoroughly disappointed in an organization. They regularly violate privacy rights of individuals not only as students but as U.S. citizens. They are nothing but an organization of thugs who answer to nobody but the chancellor himself. If you ask for an escort home because you feel unsafe, they will tell you to take the bus. They seem intent to do nothing but sit around all day and get insulted when asked to do their jobs. When they finally feel annoyed enough to come do their job, they do nothing but make the situation worse either with hollow threats, dismissive language, or a threatening tone. If you're lucky then maybe they'll feel bothered enough to give you all three. This is an organization that should be reformed and be investigated by the government, as they defi
A DPS officer in an SUV barreled toward me as I was preparing to turn from the bike lane at an intersection, then threw on their siren, stopped in the middle of the road and yelled, “You better be careful, boy.” My first encounter with DPS involved them talking about poor people like they’re criminals who should be feared, and my most recent experience was almost being hit by an officer in an SUV at an intersection while riding my bike. Y’all are doing great.
I went to the Carrier Dome for the first time to see my son play a football game and in my haste to get there I didn't pay much attention to the parking garage I parked at. When I left the game I got lost and couldn't find my car, after walking around for over an hour I really didn't know what to do when I saw Officer Jessica Z in her patrol car at a red light. I explained to her what happened and without hesitation she told me to jump in and that she would help me. I was a little embarrassed about the whole situation and every time I apologized she put me at ease, and after checking several parking garages ,a couple more then once because I wasn't much help. She never showed any frustration instead assured me that she would find my car, and after almost an hour she did! Thanks for being
