SUSHICO, wonderful addition to Newton Center. This is really the only Japanese restaurant in Newton Center, and very much deserved to be the one and only. Menu has a lot of interesting items, and unique specialty rolls. You can still get a very traditional experience with the nigiri and making selection, but definitely recommend the specialty rolls and dishes. Come try for yourself. Chef Alex and his wife are so warm and welcoming, extremely friendly and chilled. Definitely will return again.

Unfortunately, this was a really disappointing experience, especially given the strong reviews and higher price point. We ordered the chef’s choice special for two, which included an 8-piece nigiri and a special roll. The nigiri was genuinely bad—each piece had strange sauces on top that completely overpowered the fish, and the rice was cold and flavorless, which is pretty unforgivable for sushi. The special rolls were even worse. It came topped with lemon wedges on one and the other had lettuce inside, making it completely unbalanced and honestly inedible. The flavors did not work at all and felt very far from what you’d expect at this price level. To make matters worse, the service was extremely poor. We practically had to beg to be served, and the waiter was very odd—aloof, disengaged,

Artisanal sushi: all our favorites but beautifully garnished. We particularly enjoyed the Yellowtail Jalapeño, which came with crispy Jalapeño chips, the Chef's Choice 6-piece Nigiri, which was perfectly garnished and didn't need soy sauce, and the North Side Roll (top row of my sushi platter picture). Service was attentive and we'll be coming back!

This is our favorite Sushi in Newton! We've tried them all, but SushiCo is the one we always go back to. The fish and ingredients are always fresh. Love the yellowtail and jalopeno appetizer. Service is always top notch-- the servers and owners are so friendly and accommodating.

Fantastic experience.First time here and loved it. Excellent, next level sushi and friendly attentive staff. You know it's great when you're half way through dinner thinking about when you can come back.
