Sushi Ya

Oh my gosh, first time here and the owners are the absolute sweetest with delicious quality food. The sushi was way better than expected and completely worth the 5 stars. The service was absolutely incredible. The presentation and quality was well worth it. They went above and beyond in how they treated me and other customers from my observation. Very military friendly! Highly recommend!

I decided to visit Sushi Ya because of its very high 4.9-star rating on Google. Since it is also a very small restaurant, I assumed it was a well-loved local spot that focused on quality. Based on the rating and the pricing, I expected a more memorable dining experience. When we walked in, one of the first things that surprised me was how small and compact the restaurant was. After reviewing the menu and seeing that most specialty rolls were priced around $18 each, I was honestly surprised. I understand that small businesses have operational costs, and pricing can reflect many factors, but at this level, it naturally creates higher expectations for quality and overall experience. Don't let the exterior fool you, this place is beautiful inside and the fish is one of best ive found in the lakewood/tacoma area beating out and dethroning my previous favorit Fujiya . Service was also top notch! They were very attentive and quick to bring out the dishes. The restaurant is small though I wouldn't try coming in with a group larger than 10. My wife and I got the Gyoza- 10/10 Edemame - its Edemame lol Miso- 8/10 would be hire but I like seaweed in mine Rainbow roll- 10/10 Chirash 10/10

Came in late on a Sunday night for a take out order and received phenomenal service. We were probably close to closing time, but they ushered us in without any hesitation, took our large order and were so kind as to bring us a few snacks while we waited for our order. We were happy to wait as we hadn’t called ahead, but so appreciated the welcoming gesture. Great bar seating if you wanted to watch a game while dining in with some sake. We got multiple sushi rolls, gyoza, and the order came with a few miso soups and edamame, all of which was heartily enjoyed on our return home. Loved the sushi boat to-go tray which made it so easy to share. California roll did not skimp on the crab. Good food and super nice staff - so glad we stopped in!

This spot used to be a Baskin-Robbins, so stumbling into a legit bento experience in Lakewood was an unexpected surprise. The sashimi was generous, fresh, and silky… each bite creamy, clean, and deeply satisfying. If you’re craving Japanese cuisine, look no further. This place delivers and deserves a visit.
