Yes, this place lives up to the hype!! I always see a line for dinner so I decided to stop by for lunch. I showed up about 20 minutes before they opened and I was the first in line, but by the time they opened, at least 20 people were waiting and the restaurant was packed immediately. Service is so great from all the staff and I loved the hospitality from everyone! The sushi is absolutely delicious and isn't drenched in sauce or overdone with nonsense ingredients. Everything is balanced and served just right! I loved all the nigiri but the toro was outstanding and the seared toro was simply mind blowing. The texture was heavenly! I liked that the chef offered to make the sea perch order with both raw and seared since both were on the menu! I didn't have a preference and let him know to

Sushi Fumi is one of those rare LA spots where the line out the door doesn’t feel like a nuisance—it feels like a rite of passage. Yes, there’s almost always a wait. But that’s because they’re doing everything right. Once you’re inside, it’s clear why people are willing to stand on the sidewalk, sometimes for close to an hour, just to snag a seat. The fish is fresh, clean, and expertly cut. You can taste the difference in every bite. I had buttery toro that melted on the tongue, perfect albacore with crispy onions, and uni that actually tasted like the ocean, not low tide. Even the simple salmon was a standout. There’s a kind of efficient, no-fuss elegance to the whole experience. The staff moves quickly but with care, the vibe is upbeat but not loud, and the sushi comes out with just th

Overall, the food at Sushi Fumi in Beverly Grove is 9.5/10. There is a wait to be seated, but it’s worth it. Maybe just don’t arrive starving like we did! RESERVATIONS: They do not take reservations in advance, we tried calling many times and the phone didn’t go through, so if you want to go here for sushi - plan to wait between 30 minutes to an hour. WAITLIST: When you arrive, you sign in with your name, party size, and phone number on a paper sign up sheet out front on a podium. While many people were standing around, you can go sit and wait in your car, as they’ll call/text you when your table is ready. Note, you need to have your full party there to be seated, and they are strict on this. For a party of 2 on a Tuesday we had around a ~40 minute wait; we arrived at 7:58pm and were sea

Great sushi place with high quality fish and great service. I would highly recommend the crispy rice with tuna and the Tuna Lemon roll. Fish was fresh and melted in mouth. The hand rolls and nigiri were also great, but I mainly struggled to enjoy certain cut rolls like the Moon Roll and Spicy Salmon roll. While they were still delicious, there was a little too much mayonnaise which made it hard to enjoy. However, other cut rolls, which are not as mayo dense, such as the Tuna Lemon roll, were incredible and flavorful. Overall, I would come back to try the sashimi and other hand rolls. But for the time being, other sushi places with similar price ranges provide equally as favorable rolls with less mayonnaise

At Sushi Fumi, every dish puts the fish in the spotlight. We sampled the albacore and salmon sashimi—which were remarkably soft and tender—along with the moon roll, spicy taro roll, and lemon tuna roll. The sauces were pleasant but not particularly memorable, which allowed the quality of the fish to shine through.
