Sushi Freak El paso East

My son Begged me to eat dinner here, so we pulled up into a space right in front of the restaurant. We had eaten here previously, and it was good, though expensive. We walked into the restaurant as 3 teens were walking out, and we were the only customers there. The lighting is terrible which makes it super-dark inside. I don't know if that's on purpose, but I wasn't a fan. Since we were the only ones there, we were able to pick our ingredients for our respective poke bowls, and we weren't rushed, which was nice (I had the tofu with mixed rice & spring mix with edamame, spring onion, fresh jalapeños, shredded coconut, and wasabi mayo; my son had the poke bowl with teriyaki chicken & tofu with shredded carrots & cucumber, mango & avocado slices). I came here on 2/17 and I got terrible food poisoning from the Fistbump burrito . The tuna made me very sick and it tasted very funny to begin with . It had a very strong metallic flavor .Won’t be returning:(

Let me start by saying I could tell everyone was pretty new here, so the rating isn’t as low as I would have probably rated if they had been around for long time. I will definitely try again next time I’m in town to give it another chance and update the review. Here is why Sushi Freak only gets three stars for now… Pros: Cute little sushi eatery that is aesthetically pleasing. It is pretty roomy, even for being a little crowded when we were there. The staff, albeit seemed pretty new, were very friendly and seemed to be really trying. My husband enjoyed his roll, he got the New Mexican Roll. Cons: I got the Crunch Roll (a typical roll at most sushi restaurants).
