Super Mensch

Two weeks into its debut, Super Mensch is serving up a fresh, inventive twist on the Jewish delicatessen — think pastrami on rye with personality, crunchy dill pickles that mean business, and potato latkes that walk the line between comfort and cool. We went in ready to conquer every vegetarian item on the menu — but alas, the spiced beet sandwich, the lone veggie entrée, was nowhere to be found. Not sold out — just… not remade after running out the day before. For those who don’t eat meat or fish, that’s a bit of a shanda. The rest of the menu leans heavily carnivorous, and vegans will find almost nothing to nosh on. Still, we made it work. The latkes (sans roe) were golden and crisp, the fattoush with bagel chips had great crunch, the za’atar-dusted potato chips were dangerously snacka

Overall food was pretty tasty. I enjoyed the pastrami and chips. The chocolate cake was delicious and big enough to share amongst 3 people. However, the service was lacking for sure. Took forever to just get our order taken, and we were never checked on at any point during the meal. Water was never refilled either. We had to ask for the check and when we pulled our cards out, he said “who’s going to tip more?” I guess he was trying to be funny, but I wished I had told him, he pretty much ignored us the whole time. Sadly, I’m not sure I would return based on this experience.

Excellent cocktails!!! Thought I would visit for a Sunday brunch cocktail… the cute Mai Tai and maybe Order something to eat…. Whelp also ordered The Reuben and potato salad. Finished the entire thing, it was so delicious packed high with house made bread and a pickle! The potatoe salad was chives and roe- very pretty and delicious! So Delicious that I forgot to take a pick of the food!! The mensch mai tai was so perfect too! Perfect pairing! Enjoyed hanging out and people watching so much that I had a chance to also enjoy a matzah ball margarita… in order to avoid a slice of the big chocolate cake!

Visited Supermench for lunch and had a great experience: - excellent service - the pastrami on rye and Reuben sandwiches were perfect, the coleslaw was really good, the non-alcoholic cocktail (maror) was also great. The matzo ball soup was okay, but it’s hard to compete with my husband’s grandma. - the place is small, like most spots in the area, but they really made the most of it in terms of design and atmosphere. We will return!

I am so excited about a Jewish deli opening in the marina. I wasn’t blown away by the food but the matzah ball soup was comforting and the latkes had some crispiness so I was happy. They make one ginormous chocolate cake per day and serve up slices til they run out. I plan to go back to try the turkey sandwich!
