Sumatera Restaurant

Hard to find but very beautifully intimate spot perfect for a date. I am surprised this restaurant isn’t more known it is an absolute hidden gem. The food is expensive but every bite proves its self worthy. I ate the green shrimp curry that arrived in a massive bowl. It was rich, brilliant, and hearty. If you don’t take anything away from this restaurant you must do yourself a favor and use the bathroom. It was the cleanest bathroom i had ever seen. Definitely going back.

This place is a hidden gem. The thing at the top of the menu, martabaka (maybe misspelled) was so insanely dank. It’s the beef and egg fried crepe. Soo good. And everything was good. The rendang was super delicious, but it was hot!

I don’t recommend this place, unless you don’t mind the long wait. We had a party of 3, ordered fried rice, an appetizer, Singaporean noodles, and a green curry. We waited for 1.5 hours to get our food. The fried rice was good, other food is just so so. The wait time and food don’t align with the price.

Super kind staff! Fantastic food and amazing flavor! They tell you to be aware of the spice and you should, but don’t be shy! The quiet, family style with clear authentic cooking was great I wish I could’ve eaten more!

Be patient and you’ll be rewarded. Apparently only one cook so it can take a little bit so don’t come in a rush. Small indoor seating with just 5 tables. We had the Lia’s rolls (delicious veggie spring roll) and got 2 soups. Portions are huge ! One soup enough for two. So full of flavor and clearly all very fresh. Delicious home cooked meal feeling randomly in steamboat.
