Stracci Pizza

Stracci in Del Ray used to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Their pizzas are undeniably delicious, and I’ve recommended the Brooklyner to so many people over the years. That’s why this most recent visit was so disappointing. We ordered focaccia to start, two pizzas (the Brooklyner — my favorite and the one I was most excited about — and the Ermenia), a glass of wine, and tiramisu for dessert. We had just placed one slice each of the Brooklyner onto our plates, and I had taken exactly one bite when I felt something in my mouth. I pulled out an extremely long brown hair. For context, I have long dark black hair, and it was tied back in a ponytail. The hair I pulled from my mouth was brown and clearly not mine. I understand that mistakes happen in restaurants, but this was honest

We tried this place for dinner tonight and overall had a really great experience! We showed up a little after opening and had to wait about 40 minutes for a table. We sat outside which was a really great vibe. Cute picnic tables and nice background jazz music playing. We ordered the focaccia bread, the Brooklyner and Johnny za za. The focaccia came out really quick, was soft with a crunchy outside and delicious. The pizzas were also both delicious. The crust thin and crispy. The cheese and toppings were super fresh. The only reason we deducted a star is because the pizza ended up getting cold very quickly, and we wish it just had a little bit more flavor overall.

We were a party of 6 so we were able to reserve a table. We arrived some 20 minutes early and the staff was super accommodating and had the table ready for us. As far as food, we ordered the family menus. Food was delicious. Great antipasti, amazing salad and of course yummy pizzas! Dressers were nice, the only food we didn't love were the chocolate cannolis, I'd give them 3 stars out of 5, but at that point we had so much great food and were so full that didn't matter at all!

Located in the Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria, Va the establishment is located on a side street that is intertwined between local businesses and private homes. The crowd came early to grab a seat at this restaurant and based on the dishes coming out of the kitchen people were beyond excited to indulge in the Roman style pizza. The deal breaker for me is the marinara sauce and this one was evenly balanced with Italian spices. It was so delicious that I ordered dipping sauce on the side. This is what I order: - Chicken Liver Mousse - The Stracci Pizza w/ anchovies - The Brooklyner Pizza - Blood Orange Soda - Flea Beer

Easily the best pizza in the DMV. Their brooklyner pizza lives rent free in my head. Their cocktails and desserts are also delicious. Do not hesitate on getting the meatballs, you won’t regret it.
