Arrived at 3:30 in a party of 4. Not too busy with plenty of seating. Servers name was Kaleigh.Sodas and sweet tea to drink. I ordered the brisket/mac and cheese. The others ordered steaks and bacon wrapped meatloaf. Salads on the side. I didn't have one but the others said they were very good. Nice atmosphere with not too loud music. Place was spacious and nicely decorated.
We had reservations at 6, I understand you are at the mercy of the previous table, but we weren’t seated until 640. The waitress didn’t even greet us or ask or drink orders until after 7. My husband and I ordered our steaks the same way, they were both completely different one was way under cooked. My husbands chips were burnt, my brother in laws chicken sandwich was overcooked and undercooked at the same time e? That takes skill to do at least. Our armadillo eggs were supposed to have chorizo, they didn’t. When we told the server she said no it was in between the bacon and the jalepeno. It wasn’t. The eggs had zero spice or flavor for that matter. The steaks had no flavor at all. I’d rather have ate a steak off the freeway, at least it would have had flavor. The best thing I got there ton
The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food came out promptly and was delicious! I highly recommend the barbacoa egg rolls. It was our first time there, and we will be returning.
All the food and drinks are really good and the staff are very nice. Will definitely be coming back!
Great atmosphere but horrible food. I really wanted to love this restaurant. I love to see new places to eat come to downtown Newark. The food is so bad though. To start we got the fried pearl onions and the chips. The chips were ok but the dip they came with was more like a cheese ball and not a chip friendly dip. The pearl onions were oddly large more like the size of a shallot. They were crispy on the outside but raw onion on the inside. One of them actually still had the skin on it which was not pleasant to bite into. For our mains we got the smoked wings and the snapper. The wings were dry but edible. The snapper was so dry it was like eating fish jerky. Maybe they were having an off night but I don’t think I will be back to find out.
