I asked for a full Italian combo grinder toasted. It came out to $27 which is insane- and then I got barely any meat and it wasn’t toasted, not even warm. I’ve been coming here for years and I’m severely disappointed. What’s going on guys?
I wanted to love this place. The reviews gave me high hopes. The fact it's been open so long made me think it was going to be great. I've never been so disappointed. The pastrami sandwich was meh. The double cheeseburgers the boys got were two greasy patties that were so thick my boys couldn't eat them, and the buns were approaching stale. Also, see the photo of the massive piece of fat/gristle that was in my son's patty. And for three entrees, three cans of coke and an order of onion rings, it was $58. That's wild for a place that doesn't even have ranch for the rings... The staff was super nice, and I have no complaints there, but the rave reviews are definitely from people who have a nostalgic connection here, not people that actually enjoy good food. Sorry Steve's...I wanted to lo
I've been going here since 1975, and there's a very good reason, quality, great ownership and staff. Steve's Place is Newington. My memories of Steve's Place are endless. Suzi Q's, Grape drink, and packman are just a few memories. The highest quality grinders, chicken entrees, shells with meatball, salad, and the feeling of home are their strengths. Their pastrami, tuna, and meatball grinders are the best in central connecticut. Say hi to doug for me. Go here when you can, disappointment is not an option. ❤
Ordered from this place because of the high rating.. the Meatball parm grinder could not be more bland and flavorless. I'm left to wonder how much actual meat is in these grainy slabs of disappointment. Served so cold, the cheese wasn't even melted.. just a gross experience overall. Even more surprising was the "Hummel" hot-dog. When I ordered cheese and chili with onions, I didn't expect Kraft American Singles... Do not reccomend. Dropping to a single star because upon reflection, the food really was just disgusting. Also, because of the bland response to this review from the owner several weeks after posting it. No one cares about your 50-year history if you can't live up to it.
Typical Deli with hot and cold food. Had a hot Ham and Swiss in a toasted grinder roll.
