We searched Google on our way home for a place to eat. We decided on Starbeck's Smokehouse. We were excited to try a new place. The decorations are fun and eclectic. The wait staff were so friendly and helpful. The menu had us both drooling and our pockets rejoicing (the prices are more than fair). The food was delicious and more than enough. We both had to get to go boxes. Too bad you can't smell or taste the pictures. You will need to go try it.
TLDR: great place, great food . We pulled up, and I was confused-- it's at a hotel... will this be legit BBQ? Answer: yes. Things we loved: Ribs Pulled pork Mac n cheese Cheese curds! Corn bread! Bbq sauces available Things we liked: Baked beans Potato salad Coke products available.
Very iconic Waterloo spot for food. It’s a step back in time if you like Americana, and Iowa history. You’ll never run out of things to look at and talk about. Family friendly and great establishment! We get the Ribs with two meats and two sides! So we went with brisket and burnt ends with their homemade French fries and mash potatoes with two fountain drinks! $33.00 for couple to eat is a very good bang for the buck and most of the time you’ll leave with a Togo box! Highly recommend!
Starbeck's Smokehouse was recommended and did not disappoint! We had a great meal at Starbeck's. Our group had - The brisket sandwich, pork tenderloin sandwiches, chicken wings and I had the burnt ends sandwich. Sides- the cornbread is phenomenal, the fries are classic home-cut style - so good, The baked beans are chili-like and a bit spicy, we loved them. Their green beans and Mac& cheese were good too. The golden mashed potatoes were great also. The service was super friendly, the place is very well decorated and very clean. The only thing that I can think of that wasn't great was, my burnt ends sandwich was served cold. It had a good flavor but ... cold. Unique things- great cornbread, spicy beans w/ ground beef in them, great fries, huge chicken wings- biggest I have seen, good BBQ sa
The smoked turkey salad was good. My ribs were cold, the baked beans were warm and tasted like they came out of a can and fries weren’t hot and a little undercooked. The servers were above average and friendly and the atmosphere was very good however the acoustics made it very loud. I would try try it again it may have been just an off night in the kitchen.
