A friend introduced me to this place, and it was such a fun throwback experience since we’d been to Belgium together. They have some great Belgian beers and a whole long list of mussels served different ways. We ordered a salad and two plates of mussels. Everything was excellent!
Just a fantastic pub. I was in DC for a few days for the first time and was so lucky to stumble across this place. I went twice. Easily the best bar in the area. Everything was great from the moment you walk in. Not too bright or dark, too loud or quiet and not too crowded or empty. They could’ve been playing my Spotify channel the music was so good. The beer selection is excellent especially for fans of Belgian beer. I had the St Anthony mussels served in a cast iron kettle. Don’t be afraid to drink the broth when you’re done and it’s cooler. The beef stew over fries and desserts were also hits with my wife and daughter who I brought takeout. Lorraine is a wonderful bartender, and I met some great locals (are there locals in DC?). Highly recommend, but only to the cool tourists.
We were visiting Washington DC again and we were googling pubs and this place came up with really good reviews. It’s a very unique smaller pub where you walk down the steps to get inside. One of the owners was the bartender and was very personable and fun. Very unique concept where they have a pretty much full menu but they’re known for their mussels and french fries. It’s a pub with a full bar but lots of Belgium beer. Apparently the mussels are shipped in from Prince Edward Island in Canada daily. My hubby had the Mussel St Arnold’s (the house mussels) and I had chicken strips and fries (frites). Everything was delicious!!!
We really enjoyed this place. We had the house and French mussels, calamari, and arugula salad. All were good. They had a great Belgian beer selection. Service was great. I would definitely recommend this place. Update: We went back and mussels were great.
Fun Mussel Bar We had a great time at this mussel bar! The food was very decent— I tried the Arnold mussel casserole, and my companion had the classic mussel casserole. Both were delicious and came with perfectly crispy French fries. The beers were cold, refreshing, and flavorful, which added to the experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, and we even got to chat with one of the owners, who was incredibly welcoming. The only downside was the noise level, which made it hard to have a conversation, and the prices were a bit on the higher side. Still, we really enjoyed the overall experience and would recommend it for mussel lovers looking for a lively spot!
